I have filed an Identity Theft report with the police and I want to know what I can do to protect my credit or repair my credit?

How can I find out what city ordinances are in effect in the City of League City?

How do I file a police report?

Some police reports can be taken over the phone by calling the main number, 281-332-2566. Some reports have to be taken in person either at the police station or by an officer come to your house.

How can I get a copy of an accident report ?

Copies of reports can now be accessed from our online web site 24 hours a day at no cost by going to lcpd.com.

Accident reports are also available from the records division. You can get information on a report by calling the main number and pressing option 2. You can get a copy of a report by written request in person or through the mail. There is a $5.00 fee for accident reports. The Records Window is open Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 6:00pm, and Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm.

How can I get fingerprinted ?

If you need to be fingerprinted, you may come to the police station at 500 West Walker. You may be fingerprinted Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 6:00pm, and Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm. A valid official form of identification is required (driver license, state ID, U.S. Passport). There is a $10.00 fee for fingerprinting.

Do I need an alarm permit for a home alarm ?

Yes, alarm permits are required for all home alarms within the City of League City. Permits can be obtained from city hall with a $10.00 annual fee. Download a copy of the Alarm Permit Form at lcpd.com, complete the form and bring the form and the fee to City Hall or mail the form to City Hall 300 W. Walker St., League City, TX. 77573

Is there a teen curfew ?

Persons age 16 and younger are prohibited from public places without adult supervision between midnight - 5:00am year round, and from 9:00am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday when school is in session.

How can I get a copy of my criminal record ?

Criminal records are maintained by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Call 512-424-2000 for more information.

Can I ride a motorized scooter in the street or on a sidewalk?

Yes, you may ride a motorized scooter, gas or electric, on the streets and sidewalks, under the following circumstances. The scooter may not be more than 40cc. It must have a deck to enable standing or sitting. It may only be used on streets where the speed is no more than 35MPH. A scooter must obey all traffic laws.

What is the law on passing an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the road?

As of September 1, 2003 on approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle a (police car, motorcycle, ambulance or fire truck) with its emergency lights on you can, either vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle or reduce your speed 20 mph under the posted speed limit. If the posted speed limit is less than 25 mph you may pass the authorized emergency vehicle at 5 mph.

Can the police ask me to leave a parking lot because I am riding my skateboard?

Yes, the police can ask you to leave a parking lot if the owner of the parking lot does not want you skating on their premises.

Can I lose my driver’s license if I get caught with tobacco by the police and I am under 18?

Yes, your license can get suspended by a judge if you do not attend the mandatory tobacco awareness class after being convicted of possession of a tobacco product.

How long after my driver’s license expires do I have before the police can ticket me for expired license?

You can be ticketed for an expired license the day your license expires.

Can someone drive in the center turn lane? (on Fm 518)

The lane is designated as a left turn lane only. It is meant to enter an alley or driveway from the main portion of the roadway without impeding traffic. The center lane is not designated for merging into traffic or passing vehicles. It is a violation of the law to drive in, or pass other vehicles in the turn lane.

Can I cut through the a parking lot when traffic is heavy ?

No, it is against the law to cut through any parking lot to turn onto one roadway from another roadway.

Is it legal to drive in the median to make a turn into a parking lot?

No, it is against the law to drive in, or across any median or area designated by a physical barrier, crossed lines or hash marks that divides two roadways. It is not legal to drive in the median at any time.

How long does my turn signal have to be on to make a turn?

You are required to activate your turn signal at least 100 feet before you make your turn or to change lanes.

Can I pass a school bus, unloading children, on a road with a median?

You cannot pass a school bus when unloading or loading children, while the red school bus lights are flashing. A highway is considered to have separate roadways only if the highway has roadways separated by an intervening space on which operation of vehicles is not permitted, a physical barrier, or a clearly indicated dividing section constructed to impede vehicular traffic; a highway is not considered to have separate roadways if the highway has roadways separated only by a left turn lane.

Can I be arrested for a traffic violation?

Yes, anyone can be arrested for any traffic violation except for speeding or having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. It is at the officer's discretion on how to handle each situation.

Can I wear my seatbelt under my arm?

No seatbelts must be worn according to manufactures design. If your vehicle is equipped with a shoulder and lap belt it must be worn across your shoulder.

Does the officer have to show me the radar gun if I ask to see it?

State law does not require the officer to show you the radar nor do the League City Police Department Policies. The officer may choose to show the radar if the speed was locked in, it is solely up to the officer.
