Police Department Receives Safety Equipment from the League City Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association

During their annual business meeting dinner the League City Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association honored a League City Officer and presented over three thousand dollars of safety equipment to the department. Officer Gabe Gonzales was honored by the membership for his four years of leadership as the coordinator for the program.

The Alumni Association members are strong supporters of the police department. This year they purchased 30 traffic safety vests to protect patrol officers while they direct traffic and investigate accidents. They also purchased a hand-held bullet-resistant shield for the LCPD SWAT Team.

Volunteers from the Alumni Association also assist the department by conducting traffic surveys, entering pawn ticket information into the police department computer, and conducting handicap parking enforcement. The assistance they provide to the police department saves thousands of dollars in overtime costs for events such as the Holiday in the Park Parade and the Village Fair Parade.

Police Chief Andrew Daniel said, “The services of the CPA Alumni Association are invaluable to us.”
