The
date has been set for the 12th annual “Hoops Over League City”
3-on-3
Basketball Tournament. The tournament will take place on Saturday,
June 4th at League City Ninth Grade Center, 2451 East Main, from 8am
until 6pm. Sign-in is at 8 am. The cost is $15 per person. All participants
must be at least 11 years old to participate. Registration forms are
available at League City Police Department, 500 West Walker, League
City and payment will be accepted at the Police Department until Monday,
May 30. The tournament is limited to the first 50 teams that sign
up.
The
League City Police Department Community Outreach Program has been
hosting the basketball tournament since 1994 with more than 175 people
playing in the past. It takes a full day with all teams playing a
double elimination tournament. The teams are divided by average age
group and skill level. First, second and third place teams of each
division will receive a trophy for each player on the team. This year
we expect over 300 participants. Each participant will receive a free
“Hoops Over League City” T-shirt and a free water bottle.
This year the Houston Rocket Power Dancers will be signing autographs
and taking pictures from 12p until 2pm.
The
“Hoops Over League City” Basketball Tournament is an important
part of the Community Outreach Program. The funds earned in this event
will be used for other Outreach programs such as “Kids n Cops”
Summer Softball, sponsoring summer camp for underprivileged children,
participation in National Night Out and many other programs.
