LEAGUE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT

HOOPS - AFTER THE ACTION

The 12th Annual “Hoops over League City” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament was a huge success. The tournament was hosted by the League City Police Department Community Outreach Program and took place on June 4, 2005, at the Clear Creek High School 9th Grade Center. Each of the over 200 participants received a free “Hoops over League City” T-shirt, sponsored by JSC Federal Credit Union and Star Toyota and a free water bottle sponsored by South Belt Wrecker Service, Clear Lake Body Shop, D & D Pest and Termite Control, Marc Edelman and Dan Rockett State Farm Insurance.

This year, 23 teams participated in three different divisions. The Houston Rockets Power Dancers were on hand to pass out trophies to players on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in each division. The Renegades, 911, and Magic walked away with 1st place trophies in each of their respective divisions. The tournament also included a free-throw contest with $20 gift cards from Academy going to the winners. Michael J. Glass sank an impressive 29 free-throws in a row to secure the over 18 division. In addition to our tournament sponsors, the Police Department would like to thank volunteers from the League City Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and Clear Creek Cavaliers who pitched in to make this year’s “Hoops over League City” a great success.
