23rd
Annual National Night Out - August 1, 2006
League City to Join Cities Nationwide
“America’s Night Out Against Crime”
National Night Out 2006 was a complete success in the City of League
City. This was the 23rd Annual “National Night Out” and
League City’s 14th year to participate. Community Outreach Officer,
Gabe Gonzales, coordinated NNO in League City. From 6:00 p.m. to 9
p.m. on August
1st, residents in neighborhoods throughout League City
spent the evening outside with neighbors and City personnel. We had
volunteers from the Police Department, Citizens’ Police Academy
Alumni Association, EMS, Fire Department, City Council, and City Administrators
around town visiting different NNO events. There were 43 events registered
with the city from get-togethers to barbecues to pool parties. Every
registered event was visited by city representatives handing out frisbees,
rubber mini basketballs, whistles, t-shirts, glow necklaces, and flashlights.
The Police Department had patrol units, 4 community services vehicles,
the Marine Division Boat, members of the League City Citizens’ Police
Academy Alumni Association, and both SWAT vehicles out with police
personnel participating. Any comments or questions can be directed
to Ofc Gabe Gonzales at 281-338-4175.
