League
City Lions Vilage Fair
The
LCPD DARE trailer was out at the League City Village Fair during the
four day event, May 5 - 8, 2005. The trailer was donated by the League
City Lions Club and is used to give out information at public events.
The trailer was manned by DARE officers Todd Young and John Griffith
and Community Outreach Officer Oscar Pena. During the fair, over 750
gunlocks were given away. The officers also provided literature on child
safety, home security, drug awareness and senior safe
programs.
The officers spoke to hundreds of people giving out balloons, stickers
and trading cards. This was the ninth year for the police department
to have a booth at the fair. The DARE corvette was also on display at
the fair after leading the Village Fair Parade. The corvette was seized
from a drug dealer and restored by donations from local businesses.
The DARE corvette features a 1000 watt stereo system that attracts children
and adults of all ages.
